The Blue Ridge Parkway begins in Virginia and ends at U.S. 441 near Cherokee in the in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It goes through Asheville and you can get on the Parkway in a lot of places around here. The closes entrance is only about fifteen minutes from the cabin.
The speed limit is 45. Slow down, take your time and enjoy the drive. There are pull-offs with views. If it snows, the Parkway is closed.
Directions to the Blue Ridge Parkway from Meadowbrook Log Cabin
You can get on the Blue Ridge Parkway only 13 miles from the cabin.
- From the cabin, turn left on US-25.
- In a little over eight miles, turn right onto the Blue Ridge Parkway.
To the Right
Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center
The Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center has exhibits on the Blue Ridge Parkway and its history.
The Folk Art Center
The Folk Art Center is has exhibits, displays and demonstrations by the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
You can also by locally made Appalachian crafts. There are three galleries, an interpretive program, a library and a bookstore.
Western North Carolina Nature Center
The Western North Carolina Nature Center is not actually on the Parkway, but it is right off of it on US-74 ALT. Then turn right onto Swannanoa River Road. In a little over half a mile, you will see the sign for WNC Nature Center at Gashes Creek Road.
To the Left
To the left you go through the tunnels.
The Pisgah Inn
The Pisgah Inn has a restaurant, a gift shop and an incredible view.
